Harry Allen Quartet feat. Martin Sasse (US, AU, DE, HR)

Harry Allen is an American jazz tenor saxophonist born in Washington, D.C. He performs mainstream jazz and bossa nova. Even in high school, he was an extraordinary talent, being able to play songs such as "Body and Soul" in the style of tenor saxophonists such as Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster. Allen graduated from Rutgers University in 1988. Music critics have called him "the 'Franko Sinatra' tenor saxophone: a masterful interpreter of jazz standards." In a 2004 review of their album *Heavy Juice*, British critic Dave Gelly ranked Allen and Scott Hamilton as "the best still working representatives of tenor saxophone swing".
Allen's extensive self-titled discography, numerous collaborations, and more than 100 singles reflect both musical depth and consistency. Three of his albums have won the "Gold Disc" award from the Japanese magazine *Swing Journal*; among them was the album *Tenors Anyone?*, which was also awarded the New Star Award. His recordings have often made the top ten charts by critics and readers, and the album *Eu Nao Quero Dancar (I Won't Dance)* took second place in the Album of the Year category in 1998.
